Dear Ma,

You're the second Ma I wrote to today. I wonder what they would think if they censor them?

Well believe it or not I wrote to Ruth telling her that I couldn't get the Razor as they were all sold out. But I just found the letter here in my folder not finished.

I received a letter from Al. I guess he isn't doing much down there. I drove my car from Fort Meade. I had a swell trip. We stopped in Richmond, VA the first night. It was swell until we got here (Fort Jackson) and what a letdown from Fort Meade. We are living in small buildings about the size of a small chicken house. There is nothing here but a lot of red clay and water to go with it. We have to walk about 2 miles to wash. So I guess I will take a chance at the Air Corps after all.

The weather is hot as hell down here right now. We will probably freeze to death down here before morning.

Charlie
