Dear Avis,

There are no pins down here. They are real cheesie what there is of them. I did however, send you and Shirley at the buttons. You said not to but it was too late. They were already in the mail.

I got the box of sweets.  Thank you and Mom very much. The boys send their thank you too. How do you do it with the sugar rationing? You remembered I like dates.

They threw all the cadet officers in the mud tonight and tore their barracks apart. That's a good sign, that means we are leaving.
