Dear Bill and Emily,

Both of your letters came and was sure happy to hear from you. Here's hoping your brother Eddie is as well and as happy as I am Emily. Someone said that there are no atheists in foxholes. I'm afraid I must be different because when those BASTARDS are shooting at me, the only way I use the Lord's name is in vain. I should be ashamed of myself. Can't help it. Sometimes they make me soooo mad.

Are you going to stay at the lake this year? Hope so. Have a swim for me. I don't see how these Frenchmen ever go in this water. It just isn't warm enough for me. Are you taking ye ole faithful along? The canoe I mean. That five bucks was well spent. Even the memories are worth a thousand times that.

It's really a grand life I'm leading. Remember how I use to hate PT, well now I play baseball on my own accord.

Can't send much for souvenirs. What do you think of the German medal? It came off a German Marine.

Love As Ever

Al
