Dear Mom,

The days are shorter now and it seems like I would have a lot more time for writing but since we came to Belgium I've put more man hours than ever before. To tell you the truth, the last four nights I've had a date with a little English E.N.S.A. girl. She was a lot of fun and a big diversion from the Bachelor life I've been leading. She left today so that finishes my social life for the present.

If everything turns out as I have planned it, I'll spend Christmas and New Years in London. Keep your fingers crossed or me.

The Major has been feeling kind of low lately so I've been playing nurse maid, bringing him his medicine and feeding him in bed.

We opened up the canned chicken you sent. It was delicious. The Major also send his thanks. Ruth's package just came. There was a great deal of stuff in the box along with another can of chicken. So we'll have a little party later. Thank her for me. Thank Uncle Bill and Aunt Mildred also for the cookies and candy. The package arrived in real nice shape.

This shack seems to be the meeting place for all pilots. We have more company than the Roosevelts. It's good to have lots of friends.

Love and kisses to you and the family, As Ever

Al

P.S. This Luftwaffe ain't so hot. The picture of Lady Luck is Number 2 and I'm on number three. Haven't got the picture painted on my new ship. It's the latest one we have. Disgusting to day the least but what else are we to amuse ourselves with.
